THE COLORED MUSEUM
By George C. Wolfe
Directed by Erinn Anova
February 6 – February 22, 2026
We open our 40th anniversary season with The Colored Museum, which also turns 40 in 2026. Set in a museum, various "exhibits" come to life to explore Black identity, history, and culture --an over enthusiastic middle passage guide, a tortured soldier, a diva with a secret, and more. A pre-cursor to comedy skit shows like In Living Color or The Dave Chapelle Show, this play was first produced in 1986 at The Public Theatre in New York, but feels both timely and urgent in the current moment. The Colored Museum invites audiences to step inside a satirical “museum of ourselves."
