MUD, RIVER, STONE
By Lynn Nottage
Directed by Nashell Lynem
An African-American couple vacationing in Africa takes a turn off the main highway and finds themselves stranded during the rainy season in the remnants of a grand hotel. In a surprising twist, the couple’s comic and romantic adventure takes on absurd dimensions, and their relationship is tested by the volatile politics of Africa, learning what the hungry human spirit will do for food and a warm blanket.

The director listens, watches, assesses how you handle the story lines and other aspects, like line understanding, interpretation, tempo, and voice inflection. You may be given directions and asked to apply them. The director wants to see how you respond, how flexible you are, how you deal with directed change. The audition may also provide the opportunity to present a monologue you know well. If singing is required by the play you will be asked to sing, without accompaniment, a song you know well.
